Always asking “why,” Stanley is heading to Waseda University in search of deeper answers. From a young age, he learned to step back and see the broader context—questioning urban development through his parents’ job relocations, and reflecting on how long-term donations might weaken local autonomy during his volunteer work with underprivileged children. His decision to join Waseda’s TAISI Program, which emphasizes social innovation and interdisciplinary learning, was a natural step for someone eager to challenge surface-level assumptions and explore the roots of complex issues.

Beyond reflection, Stanley is also a committed doer. During his time at KCISLK, he actively participated in both school and community initiatives—offering suggestions, collaborating with peers, and steadily building hands-on experience through repeated involvement in student-led activities. He taught himself Japanese, grew attuned to cultural nuances through multiple trips to Japan, and pushed through academic challenges, including a major dip in SAT performance. After months of focused study, he emerged stronger and earned admission to several of Japan’s top universities. Believing that “the most popular path isn’t always the right one,” Stanley is ready to continue exploring the world with flexibility, clarity, and conviction.
